    Muzzle Brakes?

I'm thinking about putting a muzzle brake on my Savage 10fp and Savage Model 10.

What muzzle break do you pro precision shooters recommend?

Badger thruster is popular if you shoot on the ground.
If you stay up on the bench, a Vias are good.

Thanks Randall. Would you happen to be able to do the work?

              Of course.
I don't keep many bolt action brakes in stock though.
The ones I have were mostly designed for AR barrels.

+1 Vais, I also like the Hyperdyne II as it tames 300 wm well, just have to check to make sure the brake don't loosen up when shooting longer strings (or forget to put it back on after cleaning like I've done, lol). You should also get a thread cap for those times you may shoot prone and don't want to use the brake that has holes at the bottom leading to dust signatures (or use a small mat).

The thruster is great for being low on the ground. Not near the groundblast of a vais. Do you plan on taking the brake on and off a lot?

Rksimple I won't be taking the brake on and off a lot.

Is there any advantages in having a detachable brake besides being able to take it off and on or ease of changing brakes?

With timed brakes, like the thruster, taking them on and off repeatedly can cause the timing to become "off." With the Vais and the likes, there is no timing so it doesn't matter. I don't take my brake off at all so for me there isn't much disadvantage...unless I want to shoot f class with that rifle.

What Randall said. I use the Badger Thruster for my rifles, but I would probably go with something like the VAIS if I plan having a removable brake.

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll just have to go with the Badger Thruster.
I don't care if I take the brake off or on.

Sorry for all the noob questions. I did the whole semi-auto thing and love it.
But I want to get into precision shooting because of the challenge and of course less ammo down range hahaha.
