Article about piston AR's

I saw this and thought I post it.
What do yous think.
I know most if not all us will ever shot that much or abuse their guns. It seems certain brands of rifles that piston aren't made to hold up very well.
I own 2, POF and the tavor.
I wonder if battlefield Vegas will get hold of the tavor. Curious how it will hold up.

Even in a war zone its not going to get that much abuse. Im sure most of their customers shoot those rifles @ full auto 24/7. Most assault rifles are not made to shoot full auto all day long.

Didnt even read it. All I know is Piston > Direct Gas Impingement. Thats all I need to know.

I have both piston and gas, both have their positives and negatives. I shoot my carbines but not 24/7 on full auto. So this means little too me.

Interesting that a knockoff would hold up. People say its not "real world" but its about as real as it gets for most people.

I get that this uncommon. And I'm trying to make it like piston vs di. But for durability, I would think some of these rifles would hold up better. Especially for the price of some of these rifles. Whether it be piston or DI.
I'm just surprised from the durability stand point.
People say scar is and acr is over priced but it seems they r holding up pretty good. Well at least from this guy from battle field Vegas.

That was an interesting write up and I'm glad he wrote it. It was a very good read and has been out for a while now. I hope that folks reading it have a true grasp on the round count and more importantly, the abusive round count, their rifles go through as a class 3 rental tourist destination. The opening paragraph mentions 200,000 rounds of full auto fire. That one sentence alone should flag the reader that it most certainly doesn't apply to us, realizing that is around $70,000+ worth of ammo alone. Not to mention full auto mag dumps on a continual basis. My point is, for us, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions from the original article that the X rifle is a POS, and the Y rifle is the be all end all shtf rifle. Good stuff and I love reading it and am thankful they shared it, but it definitely doesn't apply to any of our service cycles on rifles. Jmo.

It would be nice if this write had said which type of rifle. Its obvious DD and another AR company I can't think of, he thought highly of.
Also the HK was decent. And the scar and acr. But someone also mentioned that the bolt on the scar is more robust and thats why it was hanging in their

Which is SEVERAL barrel lifetimes. I bet those are smooth bores after that many rounds. Not that the people that rent them really care about doing more then some mag dumps anyways.

Their observations are very interesting to determine wear and parts breakage, but beyond that it doesn't mean much.

All of the shooting is done at 10 yards, nothing matters to them as long as the gun goes bang. They also don't note how often and why failures on the line occur, is it user/parts/lube/mags/ammo/etc. Did they say what ammo they use?

"One of the armorers mentioned to me at one point we should consider swapping out the barrels because of throat erosion but when I pointed out to him that we are shooting at 10 yards and we adjust the Eotech to match the point of impact so barrel erosion is not much of concern for us."

Indeed, they are just looking for keyholing at 10yds before they replace the barrels.

My take: it's an extreme use case (nothing but full auto mag dumps) that represents exactly no real world scenario.
