Tips/Help on a Saiga conversion - Hammer Pin Installation Problem

Hi guys, I'm almost done with a saiga pistol grip conversion but I'm having a hard time getting the hammer pin to sit flush against the receiver to install the retaining plate. I tried sliding the pin without the hammer and it slides right in perfect but with the hammer in it doesnt sit flush. I tried pivoting the hammer back and forth, hammer spring down and upwards with no luck. Any tips on trying to get this pin to sit flush?

Is the hammer modified already?

Check the new hammer to see if you need to remove some material off the left side (scope mount side) I had to remove a bit with a file to get my pin in all the way

I have not modified it, I was watching a YouTube video of a how to saiga conversion and the guy slide his retaining plate right in without any difficulty, I'll give that a try tomorrow if no one else chims in.

What hammer/trigger group did you end up getting? I have done a few saiga conversions and have had 0 issues getting things to fit in everything just dropped in.

What's happening is you are using a hammer that's not designed to go with the BHO feature. It's too wide, by the width of that piece of metal.

Just ditch the BHO, I used to keep them in fir some bizarre reason but then realized they're just in the way of my trigger finger, lol.

If you want to keep the BHO, file the new hammer width down to the same width as the saiga factory hammer, or just use the saiga factory hammer.

I kept my BHO and just dremelled down the notch so it doesn't interfere. I rounded the corners as well.

i ditched my BHO...its not a standard AK part so screw it :P

I decided to keep the BHO and modified the hammer. The hammer/trigger group is a ALG AK trigger. You guys were dead on, I had to shave the left side of the hammer and use a dremel to make a inner groove. Now the pin sits flush and I was able to install the retaining bracket. Thanks guys. Going to perform a front end conversion next. Also I'm a lefty so tho BHO notch doesn't bother me.

Actually both of those hammers are ALG, I have a extra trigger kit I haven't installed yet for my 7.62x39 Saiga Conversion. The one I'm working on right now is the 223.

Ive had the bho jam my Saiga up, so I removed them from all my Saigas.
I just cut notch in safety for bho.
