    What bullet button...should i get for ar15?

I know. I am an ignoramus. I am building my 1st ar15 and everything is in transit. I just realized I don't have the bullet button part. Some will say I'm wasting your time and am lazy for not googling. I have already googled but I am more trusting of the people here on calguns.net. I would appreciate recommendations and explanations of why the recommended product is the one I should get. Thank you all very much!

Will your AR be crossing state lines? Raddlock.

Only one bullet button, made by Darin Prince. A raddlock would be nice if you plan to use the free state configuration when out of CA.

I like the Darin Prince bullet button with the HD upgrade that allows removal with a flat blade screw driver. It is what I use on all my ARs.

I tried the Raddlock but the tiny Hex wrench to convert is too small and the screw is tapped into aluminum. I DO use the Raddlock for my SCAR rifles however.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

I wouldn't spend my hard earned dollars on anything else.

"Bullet Button" is more of a slang term now and I will never buy one of their garbage bullet buttons again they keep walking out even with semi permanent locktite.
When I went to their store in San Marcos I was given a hard time and treated like S&!% and I asked them if there is a better way to install the button or if i did something wrong and they said that has never happened and it all had to be my fault.

My favorite is the Vamfire MLD. As a vendor I have gotten to use them all. A few twists of an allen wrench in one direction you get a fully functional magazine release button. Which is perfect for when you are traveling out of state to take a course. No disassembling the rifle and swapping out parts that could get lost. The button functions just as well as a normal magazine release button. A few twists of an allen wrench in the other direction and it is California legal, which is how it must remain within California's borders. I keep the proper size allen wrench inside the storage compartment of a grip or stock. Whichever is most convenient.

For preppers that are worried about end of the world SHTF scenarios, this is the ideal mag lock. Other ones work on similar principles, this one works best out of the many versions I've tried to date. In my case, I like to travel a lot and take my rifle with me. So this comes in handy.

FYI, I've NEVER had one walk itself free. Not even during a four day, 8 hours a day, 2K+ rounds fired training course. Not even Darin Prince's original Bullet Button. And I was running it with the Vamfire Red Freelock Button in the non-CA legal position loosened way out. And it stayed on without falling off. Any unwinding at all would have had it laying in the sand. (This course was not in CA). If it was going to happen, it would have done so with it loosened all the way out like that. I'm not saying it is not possible, just that it is very unusual given how hard I have trained with my rifles and not had an issue. Sounds like somebody just had some bad luck. I cannot imagine what would cause it to walkout with loctite being used. All mine have been loosely tightened down with lost of room for play with no use of loctite and worked just fine.

I prefer Raddlocks over Bullet Buttons.

I have the original that cannot be converted into a finger actuated mag release.

Honestly, how often do you travel out of state with your gun?

It takes about 1 minute to swap out the bullet button for a regular mag release or vice-versa.

Insurance against the screw backing out and turning my gun into an "assault weapon" or a mischievous cop - the latter being more likely in my opinion.

It's your criminal record so do what you like.
