I have some of Matt's blanks already. Both him and Dave from 74u need to fix a couple things to make them factory correct for an 86+ Russian gun. I would say they are about 90% correct on the RBC and 95% on the 74u receiver. The center support on the RBC was too short on the two that were built up and the markings are a bit off in terms of size. On the Izzy blank the selector embossing is the wrong style and same deal with the markings being a bit off. One thing that I like about the RCB units is that they have the factory style rails and undersized mag wells + the top rails are not trimmed. It's more work to finish but you get a better spec on the build vs an AKB blank. The welds are a whole other story, Dave has the best looking ones out of the bunch. I think I am going to stick with non heat treated blanks / flats. Weld and then harden. Welding the heat treated parts creates a HAZ and makes the metal weaker. I might do some of the build and then send it off to Mario at PoFH to do the paint and install the dimpled parts. The 87 izzy also has 2 part FSB with a semi long collar.

Those are some great looking receivers. I'm getting the itch for a Bulgarian 74 (haven't even gotten my WASR out of jail yet) and those blanks look awesome. He'll even engrave em for you. I'm thinking that the annealed blanks will be better for an amateur such as myself. Carbide bits are expensive and the welding to heat treated steel seems sketchy.

The top one is recreator , middle is AKB and bottom is russan stub from a saiga. Best practice is really to weld the annealed blanks and then harden.
