AOW check, please: Is this an AOW?

    Hi guys,

AOW definitions are confusing to me. For those who navigate better than me, please let me know:

This is legal according to the flowchart IF it does not meet the criteria to be an AOW. So what criteria, if any, could this have and be an AOW? greater than 26"? less than 26"? anything else? It's length I think that is the only thing I might be subject to.

aow are generally under 26" overall length which do not meet the definition of pistol rifle of shotgun

it also includes firearms that are generally not recogniseable as a firearm like cane ,wallet, penguns ,encased guns(fireable while enclosed)

Also, a semiautomatic centerfire rifle that is over 26" but less than 30" is a separate category of assault weapon that is not avoided with a fixed magazine.

There are a number of things that can trigger AOW, but the most common is the installation of a vertical forward grip on either a pistol or a pistol-grip shotgun (that is not already an SBS).

I was using the pistol chart, so that was not covered. The barrel of a theoretical firearm that looks like the image above has a <12" barrel. I assume it could never be a semiautomatic centerfire rifle assuming there is no provision for shoulder mounting?

unless it is still defineable as a pistol /one grip/bore under half inch and rifled

              handguards are not a "grip"

ps its nice seeing an a2 upper not many people use them anymore

I actually stripped the original and put an A1 handguard on my rifle-length.

I would prefer an A1 personally, but A2 is OK too.

So then, as a pistol/onegrip/<50 cal/rifled, OAL doesn't matter? It's simply not an AOW?

dial in for 55 fmj at 100 yards. done fiddling forever. take shooting. Move on to other projects. Like making sure a pistol is a pistol and not a MG, DD, zip gun, or AOW.

over 26" as configured is a title 1 "other" firearm.
under 26" as configured is a pistol.
under 26" as configured with a VFG is an AOW.

cool. in both cases then, following the flow chart puts me into legal land. even if it had a 10 round mag and operated in semi auto. (which as pictured is not the case)

yeah. took out today, sighted in. shoots just fine. maybe 4 MOA. back of the safe. itch scratched, and ready for a handout if a buddy wants to go to the range.

Not nearly as loud as people suggest.

Since it is convertible, tried it as a semi auto and as a single shot. it will stay a single shot. no benefit to go away from that. Though the gas DOES blow the bolt open.
