    Broken Timney?

I'm looking for a little advice and I'm hoping that my Timney doesn't need to go back.
I have a skeletonized timney trigger (3lb pull) in my AR.

It's been working fine till today when it wasn't returning properly. It felt as though it was sticking a bit. Then I noticed it had some left/right play going on (which I don't recall it ever having before.

When I got home I took the lower receiver off to make sure it was still seated properly and hadn't come loose.

What I found horrified me. The trigger mechanism itself now 'wiggles' even though the entire piece is seated just fine. (See link above, the gold part is sitting just fine, but the actual trigger has left/right wiggle.)

Any thoughts before I mail Timney and ask wtf?

    Thanks!
    B.

Have you snugged down the two set screws?

yup, they're fine. That part is snug as a bug in the rug.
It's weird it's like it's 'catching' on something. It was fine till today.

It's really hard to explain without physically seeing it.
      (And frustrating)

Don't Timney's have a lifetime warranty? Hopefully they will take care of you. I have had Timney's in Bolt guns before and they were GREAT. I'm thinking of getting one for my AR (I know LOTS of guys with them).

I think I got to the bottom of the problem, it's 'catching' one of the springs might be a little on the 'sub par side'
I'm giving it a good clean and tighten and we'll see. Otherwise, yup, back to Timney. They do have a lifetime warrenty. I'm sure this is just one bad one. Nobody else seems to have run into anything like this, and for the last 3 months the trigger has simply rocked. (I highly recommend it)

Thanks for the responses and advice!

I have the same trigger in my rifle and it has worked great. The only problem was when the two set screws came loose after about 1000 rds. Someone else was shooting my rifle and the pin that holds the trigger in, walked out and was lost. I replaced the pin, tightened the screws and its been great ever since.

That said, if you don't fix the problem yourself, I wouldn't hesitate to call Timney and talk to them.

I have the same trigger. I had a problem that it was the disconnector not working properly. I would have to push the trigger forward to put the trigger back into position to fire the rifle again. I called up Timney, Their customer service was great. They fixed the problem quickly and returned the trigger. They even called up later to make sure I was happy with teh trigger since the repqir. First class company in my book.

That sounds exactly like what is happening to me.
It's weird though, it started after about 800 rounds have gone through with the new trigger.

                  Thanks for the heads up!
