    AR 5.7 upper

I found an AR 5.7 upper on Gunbroker. Is this Cali legal being the magwell has to be open to eject the shells? And i talked the guy down to 650 with no mag since he's only offering the 50rd not 10rd's.

    Any info will help.

Legal if used on a featureless build or you find some way to attach the magazine so it can't be removed without a tool. You'll also need to remove the flash hider that comes installed on them. I've used mine on a monsterman build with a muzzle brake.

Gut a ten rounder and use P-50 or bullet button?

You can't. It's built like a P90. It uses P90 mags and the open AR magwell to eject the empties straight down just like a P90.

To the OP, an open magwell is *NOT* a problem with an AR. Period.

The problem with an AR57 upper is that the mag is not a standard AR mag and attaches to the upper so it can't be locked with a prince50 or normal bullet button. You have to find some way to attach the mag, or build out your AR featureless.

                IMO.
Buy factory 10 round mags (as well as a few large capacity rebuilds for when you visit other states) and go featureless.
