    Mini 14 magazine question

    Hello all,

I bought a pair of mini 14 10 rds magazines many years ago. I am trying to sell them, but there is no ID on the mags itself. The pkg it came in has a barcode, mini 14 10 rounds .223 Blue. MAG-379. These metal magazines. Any suggestions or do magazines have to have some kind of ID?

What kind of ID would they need? They're mini-14 mags, and they hold 10 rounds of .223. Some pistol mags will have the model of the pistol that they belong to printed on them because they're so visually similar to so many other pistol mags. Mini-14 mags look like mini-14 mags.

If you're trying to figure out who the manufacturer is, try posting some pictures of the packaging since you have it.

Ruger mags have their logo on the plate. You may have Promags.

I was looking on eBay at the pro mags, do they have the pro at symbol on their mags?

The mags I have are over 15 years old if that helps.

ProMag didn't have their logo or markings on their magazines 15 years ago. Any ProMags with logos is relatively new. The bluing they used was actually pretty good. It's possible that those are USA brand magazines - not good. Surprisingly, the ProMags for the Mini14 that I bought a long long long time ago were very good. Mag body and follower were good. I only have fault with the cheap springs they used.

I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

I don't think that is always true, early Ruger mags didn't have any ID that I remember. But it's been a loooong time, I might have forgotten.

Sounds like a stock number from Cheaper than Dirt.
The only decent magazines for the Mini-14 platform come from one place: the Ruger factory. All Ruger factory original magazines are so marked. Anything else is just junk.

on older pre 580s Stainless models, John Masen 10-rounders have been excellent

everything else, the only alternative to factory is Tapco Gen IIs.

Wow some guys sure do have finicky Mini 14s. In my old 185 series 20rnd made in USA, 35rnd Eagle, 30rnd Tapco, 10rnd ProMag, 10rnd John Masen and Ruger 5rnd mags all work perfect

The image that the original poster attached is that of a John Masen 10 round magazine. These are longer than most 10 round mini 14 magazines.

I was hoping they were JM. I will be putting them on eBay this weekend. I have 2. Both still packaged.
