5.56 AK extractor?

I've got a new project, but it's missing the extractor.
Will an ak74 extractor work on a 223/5.56 bolt?
5,45 extractors are everywhere but 5.56 extractors are MIA.

I think it should work, they're so close but I want to make sure.

Also, will a new bolt carrier effect headspace? Same bolt, just different carrier. It has that lightning bolt ambi carrier and I can't get behind it. Why fix something that isn't broke but oh well haha just gotta find a new carrier.

The 556 rim is smaller in diameter then the 545 . On my ak74 to 556 conversion I had to file away a tiny bit of material from the inside of the extractor claw so it would sit deeper into the bolt face getting a firm grab on to the 556 rim . You may have to do the same

This was my experience with my 300blk build as well. Few minutes with a file had it sorted out.

While that may be required depending on the gun. I have noticed that the chambers on 5.56 guns with AKB barrels need to be checked to make sure they are not cut tight and smooth. OP is using a 5.56 bolt (sounds like a russian one) and is using a 5.45 extractor. I would suggest running the gun and seeing if there is an issue before making changes. I have two build that run with no issues and have no extractor mods done to 5.45 bolts.
