    Guy claims he did 20 years as usmc sniper...

    And he couldn't give me specific makes and models when I asked what he used. He mentioned ar 15 and I said that's not a sniper rifle. I might run into him again today. What are some more good q's to ask to know for sure if it's all bullspit?

    I do mostly handgun, ar and shotgun shooting, not much long range rifle.

      Dude everyone was or is a scout sniper or navy seal.

      I can't tell you how many times I've run into guys who go on telling me these stories of them in the bush in exact detail, but oh wait! The last time you told it the events were the same but the place and story was completly different.

      People lie, people fake, people pretend. Just roll your eyes and move on.

      If you must get in a pissing match, tell him prove it. I'm sure he would have some files and doccumsntation for the unit, medals and quals he was in and took part of.

      I work on a military base so trust me, I get/see this crap weekly from Retires.

          Ask him if he's one of those guys who can shoot 1" groups at 1000 yards with a Barrett M82. Also, ask if he keeps dope on his rifle or in his pocket. Don't elaborate, if he doesn't know what "dope" is, just sit back and record it. It could end up being a very funny recording.

              Ask him where he went to boot camp (Paris Island / San Diego), his MOS as a sniper (should tell you either 0317 or 8541) and what unit he was assigned to (should give you an answer like 1st Battalion 1st Marines or 1/1, 1st Battalion 3rd Marines or 1/3, etc...)

              Basic questions ANY Marine Corps vet will quickly give you an answer to.

                AFAIK...

                Since the 1960s, the standard issue USMC sniper rifle has been the M-40.
                1960s = M-40
                1970s-90s = M-40A1
                2000s = M-40A3
                2009-present = M-40A5

                Also in use by USMC snipers...
                Barrett M-82A1 & M-82A3
                Colt M-16A4 SAM-R (designated marksman version of the M-16A4)
                KAC Mk11 Mod 0
                Sage Int M-39 EMR (designated marksman version of the M-14)

                  LOL! Marines used one rifle in the last 20 years until recently and not sure if you count a DMR as a sniper. If he was going to lie at least he could do some research. 20yrs? He should have started with the 40A1.

                  CSA; you mean a barn door? LOL!

                    Sorry, Ill throw the flag now. No Marine will ever refer to his M4 or M16 as an AR. I still call an AR M4 clone an M4. AR15s are for civilians. He is so full of **** his eyes are brown. Just wait, he will tell you his missions were classified and bla bla bla....

                          As already mentioned - - Ask him what his MOS was. If he cannot instantly tell you a four digit number, as mentioned above, he is full of s---.

                            Its funny how no one is ever a cook, an arsenal manager or other important but otherwise bland occupation.
