nice. you won't regret it. a side note though, his receivers are hard and you may have to replace drill bits. i have 2 of his receivers. he also has a YouTube channel under "the dark knight builds" IIRC

spaceghost- im just planning on building 1 or 2. that is why i was thinking about doing we weld build. if i got a kit with the barrel installed and headspaced, it wouldnt require as many tools for me to build one. buying one would probably be cheaper, but i think i might take the "bent flat" route and drill the holes out myself. for me, it just seems like a good time building a rifle.

Romy G kit (since it looks decent), an NDS receiver from Riflegear (http://www.riflegear.com/c-223-ak-receivers.aspx), and an AKM rivet kit from AKB. If you want to add something extra, get a Romanian Scope rail when you order from AKB.

Get a hold of Randall (AR15Barrels.com on the forum, http://ar15barrels.com/ or http://akbarrels.com/), have him to build and parkerize the rifle for you... and you're done.

Going this route you'll spend a little more $ but you'll get a well built, good quality rifle that's better than most of the off the shelf AK's currently available.

Weld kits are not bad. There is a USMC guy. I think usmcdoc14 is his un. He has a vid where he built one via weld. His vids are pretty good to go. Check him out.

I built mine via rivets. It was very rewarding. Especially when shooting her for the first time. Good luck. You'll really enjoy the experience.

I'm doing a weld build right now, not my first...they go together really fast but there are certain things you have to be careful of, one of which is over heating the trunnions. But you'd really have to put so much heat into them to do that.

Buy a kit with the barrel already populated. AKBuilder.com
Welding a receiver is a pain. Especially if its not straight.
Jigs you need will be expensive. If you build 10 AK's it would be worth while.

80% AR is 10 times easier.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
