Attention Owners of Dragunov Tigers - Help with the Recoil

    Hi Tiger owners,

Do any of you know about the safety sear feature that the Russians didn't include with the import of the tigers? This sear is supposed to prevent the rifle from "out of battery" explosions.

In another forum, I read that the california tigers had them installed already, is this true? Can someone shed some light?

    Thanks in Advance

I forgot the agency but they assumed the third pin meant the rifle can be full auto so the early ones didn't have them. The later imported ones had em. I think there was the same problems with PSLs but I don't quote me on that

Some PSLs and tigers were born with a full auto sear hole and welded up

This is an NFA no no so those receivers had to be replaced.

The Tiger trigger group you have should be fine. I am not aware of any additional safety on the Tigers

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

As far as I know some third holed svds were imported with atf letters, and PSLs were brought in with the 3rd holes but then recalled or something? I was talking to a gunshop buddy about it

The PSL is an AK design and could technically be converted to FA. On the Factory PSL the safety sear is located in the same place as the Auto sear would be. So they were recalled.

I have heard stories that Tigers w/o the safety sear (which is an added feature) have caused some "out of battery" explosions. I am just afraid for my tiger and my safety if I shall put myself at risk w/o this safety sear.

Dunno. Were they caused by hammer follow or by soft primers?

I knew it was something like that, I'm glad my psl wasn't recalled.
And I hope my tiger doesn't explode haha.

I believe the guy thought it was hammer follow, they were on light handloads, he also thought maybe the bullet hit the face and pushed in a little causing higher pressures. But I think it was just a weird occurrence where it fired oob.

the KBI SVD rifles that were imported..only 100 of them..all have the safety sear installed. SOME California Armory TIGERS also had them installed. It cant make the rifle FA. It stops the hammer from falling unless the bolt is fully locked. ALL Military C&R SVD rifles being sold have the Sear..so I dont think ATF really had much to do with rifles missing them.probably more of just how they were assembled in Russia for export.

and I have seen a tiger (no s,sear) go FA because of soft primers and a malfunctioning trigger group...luckily the guy hung on and there were only 5 rounds in the mag...but wow..it was interesting...

Found a guy in the Ukraine that sells them. The auto safety sear and the pin needed. If anyone is interested, his name is Werewolf in the Ak Files Forum

Nice rifle. Out of curiosity, did you get a buffer for it - as discussed in this thread - http://www.theakforum.net/forums/41-...il-buffer.html
