MGI has had that for a while now, I saw one at the Glendale gun shot, I think it was on the CWS table.

Word from Armalite is that the uppers may not be available by themselves until mid next-year.

Just to expand on what David said, Armalite usually introduces a new model as a complete rifle first for a few months before releasing the uppers by themselves. Given their current backlog, I was told not to expect the 7.62x39 uppers until 2Q 2009.

It looks like it's a mid-length, too. That's good news. Mid-length, 16" and chrome lined.

Now that C-P seems to have working mags, it just might make sense to do the x39 AR... except now surplus ammo is expensive and a Saiga is still 1/2 the price of the upper.

Ammo prices will come down sooner or later, but this upper is the holy grail of 7.62x39 AR uppers. Like you said, middy and chromed!
