Great news for 7.62x39 AR lovers!

If this is a repost, too bad, Im stoked!

Armalite now has a chrome lined 7.62x39 AR for $1055! Im not sure if they offer the upper alone though.

Built on the same popular platform of the M-15A4 Carbine. This new carbine provides all the flexibility of a flattop top picatinny rail but now available in the worlds most available cartridge. The 7.62x39mm cartridge is the most readily available cartridge in the world; in fact the original AK-47 was built to use this cartridge. But finally enthusiasts of this cartridge won't have to settle for less than the best. A true ArmaLite carbine.

The ArmaLite designed mid-length handguard and gas tube technology provides an optimal gas pulse to power the 16" system so reliability is never an issue.

*The holder of an active FFL must contact ArmaLite to order this product.

Handloaded 7.62x39 will shoot sub-MOA in the right gun if the shooter does his part. It's not inherently inaccurate, it gets its bad rep from being used in guns with loose tolerances.

Will the lower have a different model designation than the ones on the list?

MA & I, Del-ton and Model One Sales has quite a few - upper assemblies and complete kits. I picked one up at the last Reno show. They're not all over the place at the shows, but they're around. Biggest pain is magazines, I've found that C Products are about the only ones I've seen that work. Unfortunately vendors pass off 6.8s as working with 7.62 - they don't.

I tested a DoubleStar AR in 7.62x39mm w/ 16" HBar barrel a while back. As for accuracy go....

2.5 MOA with WOLF Polyformer FMJ
                1.5 MOA with CorBon
                1 MOA with Winchester

I used to have a 7.62x39 AR upper until I sold it after giving up on finding suitable magazines. I should have kept it.

Nowhere. Armalite M15 (all) is a listed AW. Perhaps the upper will be sold separately, I'll check with them tomorrow.

Too bad. I was hoping this was a 'new' unlisted model.

What makes this upper special is that its the first upper to have a chrome lined barrel from a top rated manufacturer, all other 7.62x39 uppers on the market have been CM barrel with no chrome. So if they decide to sell the uppers alone, Im so in for one! Group buy?????

+1 on all of that. Armalite also will have M4 barrel extensions.
Double Star is getting some chrome lined 16" barrels soon and have some 20" barrels (as of last Thurs).
