hey I just want some opinions on either the savage 10fp in .308 20" bull barrel or a Remington 700 sps tactical in .308 20" bull barrel. Both are just about the same in specs I just like what I've read about savages accutrigger better. Thanks in advance and please don't throw out "get an ar there gonna get banned" I already have 2. Also one more question where can I find some cheap once fired .308 brass everything I keep finding is mixxed military and I don't think these 2 are chambered for it. Thanks in advance

Its going to be a difference of opinion. There are some here who will stand by the Remmy 700 platform and some who love savage. Either are fine rifles. Personally, I would go with the R700, seeing as how there are more aftermarket parts. More will chime in later.

I own neither and have no experience with either.

That said, this question gets asked quite a bit and the general concensus seems to be if you want something good out of the box to learn on and use semi-seriously get the Savage. If you want something good our of the box that you can dump money into later to make great get the Remington. Both will fill the role of semi-precision plinker but the Remington has a larger fan and product base so it is a bit easier to push it's limits once your skill catches up with the factory gun.

I love my SPS tactical. Great bang for the buck and the best selection of mods. But I have only heard good things about the savage too.

i would lean towards the 700 with the tie breaker being the $40 rebate remington has going until december 31.

I'm not a big Savage AccuTrigger fan. It's fine as it comes from the factory but I think the reason it gets such praise is not because it's so good, but rather as delivered from the factory a Remington is so bad. Loosen up the loctite, adjust the Rem 700 trigger and you'll have a better trigger.

I'm not bashing the Savage, I have a few and their fine, I just don't think they're deserving of all the praise folks heap on them.

Once fired brass. It is military brass but it works fine. I bought some from that guy and it works well. You just need to get rid of the primer crimp. It is simple to do and the tool costs about 5 dollars.

I would go with the Savage. As far as aftermarket stuff goes Savage has a lot of parts around too now. Maybe not back in the day but that was then. As far as the hype goes for savages being so accurate out of the box is true. Not that Remmys aren't but let's face it, Remmy has made a name for themselves. People go by that alone more often than not. I believe both are good and both have put out lemons from time to time. Over the years I have heard more complaints over Remys but I wouldn't say they are garbage. Savage has come a long ways. If you handload you will see that the chamber isn't so long. The generous mag length let you seat the bullets long also. I believe the Sav is more loader friendly. Just my 2 cents.

700. You can adjust the factory trigger or sell it and purchase one of a handful of aftermarket triggers available.
