    msar ?'s

I've been wanting one for awhile as some of you know.

I have new interest in the msar since I found a stock for the msar on GB that has no forward assist, and takes both msar and preban steyr magazines with no mods. It's advertised as the new msar design for the stg-556. Is this really the "newly" designed msar stock? I couldn't find any info on their website. Will there be any mods to the current barrel design? Any news on the MSAR carbine 9Para, will this kit happen?

From what I remember, with a 16in barrel, it's still short of the 30in oal.
Is there a extended muzzlebrake available? I know, I'll need a radd lock..

I know that the new 2nd gen. stock eliminates the fofward assist for a better looking stock. I don't know if it takes AUG factory mags, but mods to AUG mags are not that hard and are minor. Get a 20in barrel version to exceec 30 in OAL.

Alright, thanks for the confirmation on the new stock design! The 20in is cool but I really like the 16in, hopefully I can get a custom extension made. Otherwise, I'll just buy a 20in, and buy a spare 16in for out of state fun.

I believe they're calling it their Gen IV stock, without the AR15 FA.

Gen I: Early black LE models had a different feedramp and were recalled.
-Stock: No fence around the bolt catch, no swivel pockets on the bottom, forward assist.
-Bolt Group: Full fluting on carrier, fluted RH thrust piece, balled LH thrust piece.
        -Barrel: 1/9 Twist, Tulip f/h

        Gen II:
-Stock: Fence around bolt catch, swivel pockets under rear of stock and grip.
-Bolt Group: Smooth carrier, non-fluted RH thrust piece, non-balled LH thrust piece.
        -Barrel: 1/8 Twist, Tulip f/h

        Gen III: (or IIa?)
        -Barrel: Jagdkommando f/h

        Gen IV:
-Stock: No forward assist, AUG mag compatible
        -Barrel: Tulip f/h
        -Optic: US manuf., Upgraded Knobs

The MSAR MCS carbine project is on HOLD.

Now I could use something like this! This one says .45 ACP on the barrel. Sorry I don't have any more info. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Sad MCS news starts on page 9, read through the next few pages and an MSAR employee confirms the MCS project is on HOLD.

This was on the top of my want list, along with the ACR delay. An STG-556 or AXR may be added to my want list.

Yea, you'll need a 20" barrel for the STG-556 to meet CA OAL requirements. I think an 18" barrel with a perm installed FH would meet the 30" OAL requirement. You can have a 20" cut down for that.

I was curious where you got the fake suppressor. I also heard that the OAL has to be reached by items that are not removable, has anyone heard otherwise?

Posted this in another thread, but then saw it was a WTS thread and this one may be more appropriate.

I'm going to wait for the USAUG. I might have to sell some stuff but I think the OG Aug would be a kick in the pants.

All I want is a 16"' barrel for my 1989 registerred Steyr AUG but can't find an unmolested one for a reasonable price. I wonder if the "new" AUG's by Steyr will have barrels that interchange with the original model.

in order not to have to fuss with the fake can, you have to get the 20". I have one and it is great. You can't use AUG mags however, (without modifications, if that's even possible, but frankly it's not worth it in my opinion for a 10 rd mag.

Rifle shoots great and is very accurate and reliable. Raddlocks are readily available and work very well. I wouldn't fiddle w/ the fake can. Why diminish your accuracy by shortening the barrel when you just have to replace barrel with a fake can that does nothing for your accuracy?

The new MSAR without forward assist can use original Aug and MSAR magazines out of the box.

I'm gonna wait for the new A3 Aug. No 223 long guns till then. I need to start saving my pennies for one..

                          FYI...
Steyr Arms is launching their online parts store on 02-02-2009.

They should start distributing AUG-A3 by end of Jan/beginning of Feb.
