I have been using Breakfree CLP for cleaning, lubrication, and preserving (hence, CLP) for years. I occasionally use Hoppes #9 for the barrel and bolt, but it's mostly CLP after each trip to the range.

www.militec1.com , dri-slide from www.uniquetek. My gs used to use sperm whale oil to lube firearms.Long before most of you were born sperm whale oil was used as an additive in autotrans fluid because it didn't break down from heat and would remain in a fluid state in sub zero conditions. With all of the new synthetics lubes are far advanced and there are many to choose from militec leaves a dry film that doesn't attract dust so the owners of militec1 sent cases to our combat troops. You can read all about what happened on the web site www.militec.com it's an excellent weapons lube.

That's bull; I'm not even sure how it could be possible.
The only worry in regards to any cleaning products would be say, leaving a serious copper solvent like Sweets 7.62 in a bore for a very long time or perhaps using a extreme solvent on plastic parts like Sig grip panels.

I know that certain metals should not be left soaking in Hoppes. I use it sparingly, perhaps every couple of months a nice wipe of the bolt with a rag or a patch through the barrel. I've also used mineral spirits (with a little CLP added) to soak the bolt assembly and that works well.

But it is usually CLP and nothing else. Great stuff.

Any nickel firearm should stay far away from copper removers. It'll cause the nickel to loosen or flake as the base layer to the nickel finish is copper.

CLP and Tetra for M1A. I have used Lubriplate and it's pretty good but i like Tetra better as far as grease.

                            You cant beat CLP.
