    SKS scopes?

Anybody have any ideas about getting aftermarket SKS scope setups, to hold zero?

Well, I shoulda been more specific.

I already own one of the ubiquitous Chicom scopes and rear cover with scope rail. Can't get the rear cover to remain motionless under recoil...

i have one of those too and had the same problem, until i looked again at the mounting instructions and saw the art that i had missed about fitting.
you have to bend the front two prongs of the cover out a little bit so that it locks itself into place. mine works a lot better now, although it is a little harder to install and remove. but it definitely is a more secure fit.

The dust cover mounts are known to do that. It's not a good mounting point.
You have two options to mount a scope on a SKS

1- Drill and tap a scope mount into the reciever

2- A Scout Scope Mount with a Long Eye Relief Scope or red dot

I recently adapted a Weaver Converta-Mount with S2 shotgun side rail scope mount to fit a Yugo M59/66. I bought a new Weaver Converta-Mount & S2 Scope Mount for a Mossberg 500 off Ebay (although it really doesn't matter which shotgun it's designed for since you're going to cut the Converta-Mount side base, anyway) for $15 delivered.

I cut the side mount down to 4.25" by 1" and drilled and tapped it into the receiver. The S2 side mount then just screws into the side plate. It has the same benefit of being detachable, without the scope losing zero.
