I always hear about the CA94 and sometimes the Vulcan clone. Anyone know anything about the Special Weapons SW5? What's the deal with these?

I want to add an edit, if someone has already made the SW run like it's supposed to then it can be good. If they haven't then see above.
If you're thinking of buying one, make sure you take it for a spin first.Last edited by hawk1; 11-13-2008, 4:43 PM.sigpicNRA LIFE MEMBER -

Coharie Arms = Special Weapons. Both owned by Todd Baily. There is also Bobcat Weapons (Now renamed Red Rock Arms). They are located in AZ as well, so I would suspect some involvment from Todd in that company as well (The change of name supports this, it's a classic Todd Baily trick).

I have used the real MP5 and HK94 in a free state not Cali, There is a big difference from the OG HK94 and the CA94 in quality.
The only good part of the CA94 is the receiver IMHO. I would Junk the cooking tube(a must), extractor, ejector lever or BCG the other stuff you need to keep to meet 922r compliant list of US parts or replace them with US made quality parts. Once you have achieved this you will have a super nice Cali legal rifle.
I cant decide which I like more Hk 94 style rifles or the Hk UMP style, both are great and rank highly in my book.Comment

The Bobcats,SW,and Coharie arms are all associated with Todd Bailey
Quality is super variable. Out of spec parts are ground down to fit. Sometimes you will get a firearm that works but you will have a hard time interchanging parts later cause they do not fit. The guns alro are not duracoated or parkerized; they are spraypainted!
You would do much better with a Vector arms V93 or PTR91. In the pistol calibers I really do not know of a good clone for the money.Comment

Get the most recent CA94 you can- the later ones have about as true to spec HK receivers as you can get.
Swap the bolt groups, trigger pack, and cocking tube support (cocking handle and tube), and you have yourself the closest thing to an HK94 without walking into a gun shop in 1989.
