    building an ak 47

    for those of you that have? can once you purchase a reciever from a a shop, are these pretty simple to assemble?

    Yes, they are pretty simple to build. But, they are MUCH harder to build than an AR-type "build." That is to say the parts don't just attach to each other like in an AR 'build." You need to rivet parts together and will need some specialized tools and jigs (and some know-how) to put an AK together that doesn't look like a Frankenstein gun. Generally, you need a shop press, grinding tools, and several jigs (for installing rivets, pressing the barrel out of the trunnion and pressing it back in).

    If you are only going to build 1 or 2 AKs, it is NOT worth it for you to buy all the tools required. Pay somebody to do it or go to a "build party" and use the tools there.

        if this is your first time building and you have no tools or knowledge,youre probably better off buying a complete rifle instead.
