Saiga 7.62x39 Convert or Leave Stock?

I have a Saiga 7.62x39 in stock configuration and am debating whether or not I should convert it.

I also have a complete AR lower and can make a 7.62x39 build for around $400.

Would it be worth it to convert the Saiga or should I just go the AR-47 route?

If you want to change the look of the saiga you can convert. If you want a more accurate rifle get the AR47.

Depends. Mine is stock and I have no issue with it. If you have the skills and don't mind an AK maglock, then go for it.

              BTW love the wood furniture.

Why convert it when you can leave it as is and put the money towards a WASR?

Thanks for the input everyone. Awesome conversion pics too!

I think my original question is evloving into:

Will using the Saiga as a base for the build serve as an advantage as opposed to just buying an NPAP or WASR?

Sorry if that's a noob question. I'm more of an AR guy but planning on diversifying.

A featureless ak is a great thing.

                              Not really an advantage.

Converted it would be more comparable to the WASR.

The WASR will inherently take all AKM style furniture and accessories. As will a Saiga (for the most part anyways. muzzle device compatibility depends on which solution you chose)

The Npap, while a very good rifle, will not accept most AKM furniture. It will require Yugoslavian/Serbian specific parts. Additionally, while it does have hammer forged barrel, unlike the WASR and Saiga it is not chrome lined.
