Is it just me? Or would that be the cat's *** for a camp/woods carbine.
W/ the recent release of the RUGER Mini-14 Ranch in .300 BLK, the question has come up on other boards as to other possible calibers for this rifle.
Used to be, there was a variety of quality rifles, both auto and lever action, chambered for .357 Mag.
Not so today.
And I don't think it's the market, either... I think it's the Marketing.
Sure, I have a 582 Mini-14 in .223/5.56 and like it... a lot.
I would also buy one in .357 Mag... in a heart-beat... several, in fact.
The 18" Bbl. .357 Mag. carbine has long been a standard and staple of the American woodsman, but the concrete dwelling black-rifle has caught the eye of both the manufactures and shooters alike.
Fact is... the .357 Mag./158 gr or 180 gr. round, out of an 18" Bbl'ed carbine, is hard to beat for a bunnies to bear camp/woods rifle.
That I have a RUGER Blackhawk 6-1/2" .357 Mag., and am lookin' hard at the RUGER SP-101 4.2" .357 Mag., makes it that much more of slam-dunk.
Has RUGER asked...? No.
But that doesn't mean that voices in the wilderness can't be heard... especially by an American Legend known for its market sensitivity like RUGER.
