    Lower Transfer Questions

    Hey,
So I'm a total newbie with the transfers issue. It seems like lowers are clearing out of local shops at pretty good rates, so I'm also looking into purchasing online with an FFL transfer.

What is the proper procedure though? I'm confused on how it should all play out. My understanding is:

Talk to local FFL and get their go-ahead.
Buy lower online and pay for it
    Lower arrives at local FFL
Go to local FFL for DROS paper work and transfer+DROS fees
    Wait 10 days
    Go back to pick up.

Is my understanding of the situation flawed?

Also, does anyone know of any other FFL places near Berkeley? I only know Old West (calling tomorrow if OLL's are alright ) and Bullseye (which is a bit farther and 4 bucks in toll).

    Thanks

    • Talk to local FFL and get their go-ahead.
    • Make sure the vendor is signed up to the CFLC (California Firearms Licensee Check System) and will / can ship to CA (Any of the vendors who advertise on Calguns will of course be set up with the CFLC, but many other out-of-state vendors are not set up to ship to CA yet).
    • Buy lower online and pay for it
    • Get your FFL to fax a copy of the FFL and Centralised List # to the vendor.
    • Lower arrives at local FFL
    • Go to local FFL for DROS paper work and transfer+DROS fees
    • Wait 10 days
    • Go back to pick up.

Good luck finding a lower, a 125$ lower is probably 180-200+$ now.
if you find one cheaper buy it!

Don't drink the kool aid, there are lowers out of state for less money. Just look for them. My last quote was $135 shipped, pre-purchase price for when he expects his next shipment. It is a very trusted company.

Almost forgot, for the OP, you can buy online, but with the market the way it is, I would talk to the seller and make sure of your deal and price.
