CA DOJ approving Rifles for the "approved list" ..????

Thompson machine got a letter asking him to submit two samples of his receiver (not even a complete firing rifle) so they can be evaluated and placed on the approved list !!!!

Here is the complete thread. (read post 6-11)
I'm building one of the group buy kits and I'm adding some M37 parts... (Feed Chute and Retracting Bar). I would like to add a Link Chute if I can find one without giving up my first born. Anyone have an extra?? Merry Christmas John

Since when are rifles being evaluated ??? What am I missing ??

I dont know how new it is but I had a customer ask CADOJ about purchasing one of my replacement receivers for the FN PS90 rifles over 2 years ago . CADOJ requested two samples before they would make a determination and sent me a nice letter stating my rec was not lawful for sale in CA until it had been evaluated and added to the approved list which could take upwards of 1 year.
Sounds like someone at the DOJ just wanted some toys to play with...

Wow that is upsetting. I'm really not surprised though. The cadoj will do anything they can to slow law abiding citizens from building a perfectly legal rifle. This is just another scare tactic the cadoj is using to abbolish our 2A rights. What I think is really f-ed up is that other states doj's are going along with it.

There is no such thing as an "approved list" for longguns.

DOJ will sometimes issue letters stating that they think it is in compliance with the law, but they ALWAYS insert the "...but one or more of the 58 California District Attorneys might disagree" statement to cast doubt.

I thought that they were no longer "approving" any rifles for sale in CA. Either it is legal or it isn't.

I had a very big manufacturer send the CA DOJ a complete rifle with the MMG on it and the DOJ told them that they no longer give approvals on rifles and they refused to except the delivery.

I wonder what they are up too.

This is FUD. Any long gun can be sold in CA if it is not on the AW list. There is no "approved list" for California.

IF the DOJ is requiring "samples" it is in contravention of law.

If you want one, just buy it through Adam at Freakshow Manufacturing. Problem solved.

I hate to say this, but I think I smell fish.

DOJ isn't reviewing rifles or rifle designs for "legal" sale in California.
