If you only shoot on the bench, which is my guess with a rig like pictured in the first thread, they would be good.

The 2nd gen badger is much smaller as is the PRI "big weenie" military latch.
I play Mil Sims all the time with full tactical gear including headset communications, never had a tangle or snag. I also use a single point sling, I drape it on my side.

Just a quick comment on Tactical Latches:
I've been eyeing a few for adding to one or more of my ARs. I just finished a Tactical Rifle class today. If you're running a 3-Point or 2-Point sling, the Tac Latch can get caught up on your clothing pretty easily (saw it by quite few different guys today). If you're thinking about putting it on a CQB, I'd rethink it. If you're putting it on a scoped/bipod distance shooter, shouldn't be a problem.

QFT, most shotguns and rifles designed for righties are so much easier for me to use as a lefty. The same can be said about a lot about other hand oriented items, i.e. tools.

seriously though, even with sig slide stops... sometimes glock slide stops and other things that are designed for righties... i just never touch them until i have to.

Most bolt action rifles are actually designed for lefties.
              Paul Mauser was a leftie.
That's why the bolt handle is on the right side.

The firearms industry has it backwards when it comes to bolt actions.
For the bench, I order left handed bolt actions set into right hand stocks for a proper cheekweld.

i'm uninformed about how the bolt handle placement affects cheekweld. could you explain?

As sold, left handed rifles come with left handed stocks.
It's the STOCK that effects cheekweld.

However, it makes more sense to have the bolt on the left side for right handed people.

i like the looks of the badger gen 2. seems to serve its purpose without being too large or cumbersome like the gen 1

oh gotcha, so they're typically not ambi/symetric stocks?

Really cheap plastic stocks are usually symetrical.
Wood or composite stocks are usually non-symetrical in the cheekrest.

xcrunner805: I just caught this thread, and I've got a Badger setup if you want to try before you buy. I can pop it in an envelope, and drop it in the mail Wednesday.

E-mail me at elarski(at)gmail.com if you're interested. Please don't PM me, as I tend to forget to check them.

I had one originally on mine. . . took it off once I started using a 2 pt. sling. Maybe I'm a wuss, but if I sling over my head, the latch digs soundly into my bony back. If I drop the rifle in front of me on the sling, it digs into my bony chest. I bought a regular latch, painted it to match (duracoat camo), and wished I never thought a "tactical" latch would be a good idea.

The regular one works just fine either pulling from the back or pinching from the side w/ my scoped rifle.
