    AR barrel recommendation

I am looking at building a DMR type AR rifle. Just need a good recommendation on choosing a barrel for it. Here's the spec I needed:

Medium weight 18" fluted stainless steel, 1-8 twist (maybe 1-7)

I see in the gallery quit a few of you have something like it on your AR. My friend recommended the White Oak barrel. Which he builds his Mk12 SPR with it. Saber Defence has few barrels on their site like it. Looking for more options.

I have a couple of barrels like you are looking at. First is a Noveske 18" SPR barrel 1-7tw the other is a 20" RRA NM 1-7tw. Both barrels shoot lights out. Those are the more expensive barrels you can get. Look into the WOA SPr R barrel and the RRA NM barrel both are good for the money. The RRA I had before was a very good shooter.

Give Randall (AR15BARREL) a call. He made any profile and any options of AR barrels, and he got excellent reputation here.

+1 for CLE(Compass Lake Engineering)'s Douglas Air-gauge SS Match barrel

Also depending on WHO are you going with to build your upper.

          Some completed upper choice:
          - LaRue
          - LMT
          - Noveske
          - Troy

L-W is another good choice... Krieger are good, but expensive.

Keep in mind, all of these barrels require match ammo at minimum, reloading at best, to really take advantage of what they can do. Surplus and plinking ammo won't give you top performance - in fact you won't notice any difference between them with surplus.

If you're going 18"+ just make sure you go rifle gas.

These are the 4 barrel manufacturers we have tested in SDM / DMR and SPR configurations.

Noveske is also another good choice.

                    thanks for all the info!!

I will put my AR build on hold due to this panic buy craziness. At the mean time I will look up each of the recommended barrels.

                    thanks

I would consider taking a look at superior barrel's stuff. They use lothar-walther blanks then line them with a new bore lining called "hard blue" which supposedly extends barrel life by x3 while maintaining accuracy
