the larue doesn't feel like it's all aluminum. not quite sure what it's made of.

The LaRue is NOT all aluminum. It's polymer.

            As is TangoDown.

They're by far my two favorite.

I like LaRue because it's configurable, but like anything else (think MIAD), you usually pick one config and stick with it. The "medium" larue is between the TangoDown short and long.

The more I shoot, the more I prefer the shorter VFGs. They're less obtrusive and still serve their purpose.

The biggest advantage to the LaRue, though, is it's QD and has internal compartment space.

I haven't yet handled the TD QD, but I'm betting it's very good, as well. The standards can be a b**** to install.

Another vote for Tango Down. I am running the stubby vertical foregrip, and it is very short but as UCLA said they are not as bulky/dont get in the way as much and they work just as well as a full sized VG.

BOBRO Vertical Fore Grip w/ SACL. It twists on and off with a couple turns of a screw for those days you don't want a VFG on your rifle.

Has anybody tried the VFG that has the bipod/stand that hides away in the grip? It seems like a gimmick, but I was thinking of getting one for the stand aspect of it. I would think that using it as a bipod would lead to breakage. It doesn't seem beefy enough. http://www.grippod.com/
