    308 AR Question

    Hello all.

Looking to build an AR in 308. I have been reading that it is best to buy and upper and lower as a set to insure great fit. Does anyone know a make that sells an 80% lower with the upper as a set? I have access to the necessary tooling to complete the lower and would like to go the 80% route. All the combo's I see, though, are complete and I would like to avoid the DROS (minimal charge in the scope of it all) and the charges of buying over the internet and having to send it to the shop... LGS charges about $110 including DROS to do it so that adds about 50% to the total for just the lower...

    Any recommendations on this?

They are complete, but pretty inexpensive... and so gorgeous!

The Saltworks are $299 right now for the combo... ordering one for sure. Just need to set up the FFL (which will sadly be $75 on top of the cost.) But at the end, doing an 80% by any other manufacturer would end up costing about the same.

After FFL, shipping, and tax, the Saltworks in Anodized is $402. I think I can get uppers/lowers for less, but damn they are pretty... Ordering today, hopefully.

I also have a Salt Works M5 and it definitely is top flight.

I did a lot of research into the pricing of the other receiver sets and I don't think you can beat it. Superior craftsmanship and quality plus it's ambidextrous. And it doesn't matter if you purchase a PSA or Mega if your dealer doesn't have it in stock he is going to charge a transfer.

Thanks. Keeping in mind that this will be a long build, what should I get next? or does it even matter?

Or go Aero Precision - $320 gets a matched set for a tight fit.

Buy a good lower parts kit (Cmmg mk3), Bcg, for barrels consider black hole weaponry....

Have you given thought to what kind of build?
