Sure. You don't need a buffer for .22lr.

You couldn't do the front VFG without a AOW tax stamp, either.

Spikes sells the receiver plug for use on .22lr AR pistols I think. One of the drawbacks with a CA .22lr AR pistol is that you can't take advantage of the detachable magazine allowed on .22lr AR rifles.

That's a good question but I think it has to do with the safe handgun law and the fact you would need to dros as a single shot and the whole mag outside of the pistol grip thing.

Detachable magazine pistols with magwells outside of the grip are assault weapons. Does not matter if it's a rimfire or centerfire. Sorry.

Because the mag. is located outside the grip. Like a Tek9

It has to be a functional single shot pistol when DROS'ed. So do it in .223 first then you can covert it to .22lr or 9mm later.

The Ciener type of .22lr AR conversions have a recoil spring that's held completely inside of the upper receiver. A buffer tube assembly is not neccessary. If I can find a SIG 556 folding stock for a reasonable price, I'd like to have a .22lr AR folder.
