Who make a good vale brake/ comp for a lr308?

I know google is a friend, been doing quick searches with little time on hand.

I'm looking to reduce the recoil of my PTac-10 with out messing with my buffer. Price limit, the lower from $100 the better. I'm looking at JP's or Fortis' comps but I can't really get any solid info in regards of recoil reduction.

Anyone have any experience with them or another comp/ brake that would fit the bill?

look at market board. Some guy selling Surfire brakes for $55 each. All brakes make a lot of noise, help the recoil. The bad muzzle blast to the left or right of the shooter.I have Surefire,PWS,POF version,Dyna comp. They all work great.

I personally enjoy the blast and all guns are noisy so the muzzle blast isnt a con in my book. I'll keep an eye out in the market section though, thanks for the info.

I ditched my LR308 pattern rifle some time ago but I used a MB from PRI
PRI Muzzle Brake Quiet Control 5/8"-24 Thread AR-10, LR-308
Combined with an adjustable gas block it was rock solid.

I'm waiting on receiving one of these in 6.5 for my Grendel build, so good to hear you are happy with it. How did the process of setting the timing with the spacer rings go? Did you just have to experiment at the range?

IICR there were a good number of peel washers to get the brake timed correctly.
Peel washers require heat to separate to the proper thickness. No big deal.
The washers were a little over sized and didn't fit flush to the barrel but nobody noticed but me. You can use a jam nut too.

Experiment with?? Gas block? Yes the gas block will cure a commonly over gassed "AR type 308/556" rifle/pistol. 308 barrels are usually very over gassed and tuning your rifle to the ammo you can find makes for any easy and soft shooting rifle.

You're Gren should be a really good shooter with this brake.
Caveat. All brakes are noisy. Including this one.
There are worse ones though. JP tank brake comes to mind. "JP Recoil Eliminator"

I hear great things about the lantac dragon ($135 on sale). Videos are impressive as well.

Strike industries has an extremely close copy for half that. Not sure if they released the 30cal version yet. Look into it

I just meant how do you know that the muzzle brake timing is properly set? Do you just need to experiment with different # of spacers? And if so, what factors are you looking for? Sound, muzzle rise, vibration, accuracy, etc.?

I just received mine in the mail today, now I'm just waiting for my barrel from BHW...could be a while.

The "timing" of the brake means screwing the MB as far onto the barrel as you can so the blast ports are at 9 and 3 o'clock positions. Washers take up the space leftover so the is torqued on with this position in mind. Comes with instructions too.
This is all done in your "shop du jour".
                          ...I hope that made sense.
