Help me build a Colt 733 clone!

Above photo is not my rifle, but it's a perfect representation of how I would like my build to look like. Although I do plan on adding an Aimpoint Comp M2, Colt extended flash hider (to make barrel 16") and a Surefire scout light.

UPDATE: So far I have a complete Colt Sporter lightweight A2 upper, Anderson Manufacturing lower, CMMG LPK, CAR-15 fiberlite complete stock assembly with 4-position stock. All I need now is the Aimpoint Comp M2 and Surefire light!

You are going to have to hunt for a Colt M16A2 Carbine upper! AR15.com Equipment Exchange and a WTB ad might be a start. Be prepared to spend some bucks though. It is a popular upper. Might be easier to find the parts and assemble it yourself. I had my eye out for a nice one and found it after about a year.

Look up Colt 727. I've got one. Granted, it won't come with an extended A2 flash hider, but they were made. A2 upper, usually with C MB forge code, M4 ramps (with a 4 or M4 stamped above the cloverleaf), 6 hole skinny handguards, and, in very early and rare instances, a barrel that is marked (C) MP. They are out there, but, for the upper, we are talking $800-1000.

This might be a good start notice the carry handle
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Well, I guess I've been assembling them for too long, as pinning and welding an extended flash hider to bring the barrel up to legal length is no problem for me or my friends.

Which kind? Colt N1 fiberlite stocks are around, but recently the price has gone up considerably. It depends on what kind of clone you are trying to make. Could use an aluminum stock and call it a USAF "mix-master" carbine!

How are you going put the gas block on, if the fh is already pinned on before install?

Thanks for the input! I just ordered the C.A.R fiber lite stock kit with 4 position tube!

Personally I wouldn't run a red-dot on the carry handle. I prefer mounting my optics on a flat top receiver which brings the reticle closer inline with the bore axis. Maybe look into a detachable carry handle so you can switch between it and the red-dot. If it's just the look you're going for and not the brand you could build a clone pretty easily.

I should of read the update part, sometimes I get ahead of myself. Good luck with the charging handles and completing your build. You could probably find the charging handles with a quick google search. Be sure to post some pics when she's done.

Thanks for the .2 cents! It's actually a toss up between between an Aimpoint Comp M2 or Trijicon ACOG TA33. I leaning towards the M2 because the ACOG BDC is specifically calibrated for certain barrel length and flat top AR's.
