    Need info about carry handles

    Hey guys,

I am going to order my rifle kit soon, and need to know if there is any appreciable difference in different carry handles. I want to go with a mid length flattop kit. It doesnt come with a carry handle, so I want to know what to look for in one.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

Is there a particular reason you want to use a carry handle? If you are getting a flattop, you can consider getting a red dot or other optic as the primary sight and use a flip up rear and/or forward sight as backups or to co-witness.

If you do specifically want a carry handle, do NOT get a UTG or cheap one. The reason for this is that it houses the rear sight. You don't want junk. Get one from a mainstream manufacturer (Armalite, Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, etc).

no, but the rest of the options are pretty clear cut.....just wasnt sure about the carry handles, plus I am trying to keep this within a budget, so the optics will come later.

I'd suggest getting an LMT or DPMS cut-down carry handle. It's a fixed rear BUIS that will allow you to keep some rail space for optics down the road.

If you don't mind a flip-up rear BUIS, you can find Matechs (USGI) for about $60-70.

CDNN often has Colt carry handles in the $80 price range. Don't buy airsoft.

Just get a flip-up rear sight or fixed rear sight. A carry handle uses up space on your upper that could be occupied by an optic. If you really need to carry your rifle around uncased then use a sling.

Hit up AR15.com, plenty of affordable quality items are for sale over there at any given time.

Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
