I tried to use my drilled/tapped one in AZ w/out the set screw, just like a normal release and it worked ok, but the recoil would sometimes cause the release to move and the mag would get detached. When I would put a mag in, I would have to make sure that the release was pulled back towards the trigger to lock in the mag. Is that possible/necessary with your design?

I had to take out the d/t one and borrow a regular one w/spring.
Are you asking ME this question? If so, no you don't need a spring, the wedge locks the magazine in place and holds tight.

        Yes I was asking you.
Now, I know there is no spring w/your design, b/c there is nowhere for it to go, kind of the main attraction to your design. But what is keeping the pressure on the rest of the release that would normally be provided by the spring? I thought you made yours the exact same size as the regular release?
Like I said, w/out the spring mine was able to move and the mag came loose. Did you make yours bigger so that it couldn't move and it became a "wedge"?

Yes, exactly. And it is VERY solid!

It was simple to make, maybe I should get a local EDM or Waterjet shop to crank em out? hehehe
