love my Savages
I have two Savage rifles, and I am in love with both of them. Economical, lots of factory features, very accurate out of the box with factory ammo, and even more so with tuned handloads.
First up my 10 FCP-K in 223 Remington. Fluted heavy bull barrel, factory muzzle brake, accutrigger (I set mine at 28 oz), and detachable bottom metal. I have three mags for my squirrel shooting sessions in Modoc county. She wears a Vortex Viper PST 6-24 x 50 FFP scope.
Out of the box with factory PMC ammo I hit a quarter at 300 yards in 5 shots.
With my rifle-tuned 3500fps reloads (40gr Vmax or Nosler Varmint tips, 28gr win 748, and cci primer) she'll do sub-MOA groups all day long out to 300 yards. At 100 yards these reloads are carrying 800 ft lbs of Skippy launching energy. I exploded this guy into the wheeline at 157 yards last month up in Cedarville.
Next is my Model 12 FCV in 22-250 Remington. She has the same features as my Model 10, but no fluted barrel or muzzle brake. She wears a Vortex 4-16 x 40 Viper SFP with BDC reticle.
Again, very accurate with factory loads; crazy accurate with handloads. I use 40gr Sierra Blitzkings over 38gr of H380 and a cci primer for 4020fps squirrel busters. Here's six shots at 100 yards.
These handloads carry over 1000 ft lbs of Skippy launching energy at 100 yards.
Love my Savages.
Hopefully the pics came out, cause I did this all on my phone.

Here's my new to me model 10 in 308 with a leatherwood Hi-Lux scope (came with the rifle, I only run vortex but this scope isn't to bad for now). My first 4 rounds of reloads could be covered by a quarter. I just finished up the paint job today, I like it and once it gets some wear on it, it will look even better. I know, I need new pictures.
