CZ 550 experiences?

I really would like a CZ557, but right now they're only coming in a 20.5in barrel, and that is way too short for a hunting rifle for my needs. So...I'm looking at picking up a CZ 550 until the 557 comes in a longer barrel. Anybody have any experience with the overall accuracy of the 550? I already have a CZ 75 TS and a 452, and both are extremely accurate. Can I reasonably expect a 1in, 5 shot group at 100 yards from a 550?

I have a 550 in 9.3, mannlicher stock, it is a nice gun and kicks like a mule. I have never shot it for groups though. It is more a novelty gun to me since I do not hunt.

It is really fun with the set trigger and letting other people shoot it.

I have a 550 American in .308 that's just as accurate as my 452 Ultra Lux. Sometimes it makes its way to the CZ Tacticool stock/Harris set up with ten round mag.

I've had a 550 Safari in .375 H&H as well as a 550 American in 9.3 X 62. Both were heavy, quality, well made rifles. Lots of bang for the buck with the CZ product line. I would definitely recommend them.

I had a CZ 550 varmint .308 Kevlar, and it was an absolute tack driver. My only issue is that the 550 is a long action.

I just bought a 550 fs in 308 from a fellow calgunner. I plan to take it to the range this weekend. I'll certainly be posting about it!

CZ550 shooter here, we just shot it at MetCalf last Sunday (in the pouring rain).. We were shooting the clubs/diamonds out of card decks (gave up on paper as they were just falling off of the target stands)... Yes, you can get sub moa.

The single set is a nice novelty, but I kind of get lazy of pushing the trigger forward all the time to use it.. I just shoot it regular now.

Load development hasn't been working well on our end though, it definitely does NOT like the same loads as my Remington 700 20" SPS, which is kind of to be expected. We'll have to start from scratch trying to find out a good load.

I can get 1 to 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards with steel russian wolf ammo and my cz 527 (7.62x39) all day

Keep looking for a 550. The 557 is a totally new action. It's push feed, not the mauser type like the 550.

I have a CZ 550 Safari in .375 H&H and love it.
Took several trophies with it in Africa.
The set trigger is great but not really necessary IMHO but it is nice.
The 550 is one helluva rifle for the money.

A 20.5" barrel too short? I am going in another direction, my two big bores that I use the most are 20" and I am getting an 18" getting built right now.

I find shorter barrels much easier to handle in the field.

I took my 550 FS in 308 to the range this weekend. Awseome rifle. My only complaint is the scope mounts. They are are not hex heads and came loose after I had it sighted in perfectly. One other issue with the scope mount is that my scope (leopold VX2 4-12x40) is not long enough to allow the scope to get proper eye relief for me. I can get it to be good but not perfect, just a little black around the edges when in 12x.

The rifle shot fantastic. I had bought some Hornady match ammo to use, didn't even use it, the cheap PMC was grouping as good as I can shoot. At 50 yards holes through holes or touching. At 100 within an inch, untill the scope came loose and I had to start over. Action is as smooth as any bolt I have ever worked. I forgot to try the set trigger. Pic is of my last shots, not bad for cheapo ammo.

I have the CZ 550FS in 30-06 and I have found the 20.5" bbl. just fine in the accuracy department. I bought the rifle in anticipation of spot-and-stalk pig hunting.
