Anyone ever had this done? or anyone know of a place to get it done. I have a heavy varmint barrel maybe .940? with shallow flutes and want to turn it down to maybe a light Varmint .750.

Barrel re-contour

The cheapest and easiest thing to do is to send the barrel blank back to the manufacturer for recontouring. Usually is like $40 to recontour, since they are already setup to do it.Luck favors the prepared.

Best solution is to send it back to whoever made it.Randall Rausch

The manufacters dont want to do it either. I had Frank Green do one for me at Bartlien and it came out perfectly. He charged me $60 and said he wasn't interested in doing any more.
I had Stan at Dougles do another barrel and he wanted a thread protector put on it before I shipped it in. He was around $60 and told me without the thread protector the jaws on the machine used would ruin the tenon threads.
I have a 18 inch 1.250 straight on my 300 Whisper and would like it contoured way down but dont know anybody wanting the job. If you find a source let us know.Lynn Dragoman, Jr.

Having recontoured a few barrels I don't think anyone would be interested, It takes a long time and people don't want to pay the cost of 1/2 to 2/3's of a new median priced/quality barrel.
cheaper to buy new proper contoured, pre chambered barrel.Comment
