Desert Tech SRS, First Trip To The Range

I have seen a few threads lately about the Desert Tech SRS or Covert and I have always wanted one . Lucky me, my Santa delivered my Christmas gift on Dec. 26th and I took it to the range today Dec. 27th.
Rifle : Desert Tech SRS (Gen 1), simply because I got a better deal on it compare to SRS A1. Couple hundreds bucks different vs. Gen II. 22'' barrel, fluted 308 caliber. Fit the rifle with the NightForce NXS 3.5-15x56, NF Unimount rings and Atlas bipod with American Defense QD

    At the range.
Ammo: HPBT Match Reman 168 gr (Freedom Ammo) and AMax Reman 168 gr (Freedom Ammo)
    Distance : 100 Yards
After zero in, I did 3 shots, I thought I missed after the first shot but I checked the spotting scope, looks like it went through the same hole. I did another 3 shot a little bit down and the result was the same.

I did another 6 shots and I flinched on 1 of the shot. I'm just an average guy here so I can't pull the perfect shot every time.

Did another 3 shots before packing up

End of the day, the Dessert Tech SRS is hell of a rifle. Factory Desert Tech trigger is smooth, crisp and really caught me by surprise. After getting used to the bolt action in bullpub set up, I love it. I wish I got the SRS A1 though because the SRS Gen I does not have much padding for the stock , just a piece of plastic ; I feel every shot kicking my shoulder. Also hope Desert Tech will make 10 rounds mags soon, currently only 5 rounds mag available and it's kinda annoying to load. Overall I love this rifle, very compact, high quality built and very accurate. I know a lot of people like custom rifles or other one, but give the Desert Tech a shot, you'd like it

PS . I just got excited about the Desert Tech SRS so I just write it up to share my excitement, not trying to stir up anything

Nice first shots considering factory ammo. Now, all you have to do is reload and get that thing shooting bugholes.

What scope mount do you have on your DTA? Is it a 20 MOA cant? Also, what brake do you have on barrel? If you are having issues with the recoil, get yourself a well suited brake that pisses off your shooting partners and saves your shoulder

If my wife limited me to one more rifle for the rest of my life, I think I would go with the DTA over a custom build since she didn't say no additional barrels

I decided on a custom build with another deviant action and the same AICS stock I have already as I am used to this system.

I am averaging 150 rounds per month (currently 1400+ rounds on a 6.5 creedmoor barrel) on my current rifle and at that pace, I will be close to needing a barrel soon, which I already have chambered up thanks to Randall.
And with barrels running at over $1000-$1300 for the DTA, thats a lot of money to fork out year over year. A regular chambered barrel would be around $800. That's a lot of ammo I can buy with the cost differences on a regular barrel versus a DTA barrel.

      That's freakin nice!
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

You dont buy DTA barrels every time you shoot one out. You take your barrel extension off the bad barrel and ship it off to SAC, or Randall (I think he can chamber it up).
Bartlien and Benchmark make chambered barrels. Benchmark charges $595.00 including the barrel and fitting for a ready to go barrel in your choice of calibers duracoated black with a threaded muzzle. You just send in your barrel extension.

          @bsumoba.
Yup, the brake is the plan for next month or so. I may do reload in the future, but not now.
Currently I'm waiting for the bolt from PTG to get here so Randall can convert my Cadex Defense Remi 700 to 6.5 as well.
