    FNH SPR A5M vs A5M XP .308

What are the differences between the two? Is the XP model worth the price difference?

The XP has a threaded barrel and a thread protector.

Thank you. Is it worth the extra money for the threading? I'll never have a suppressor but might do a brake.

I don't know how much extra they charge, but I charge $80 to thread an SPR barrel.

It has a threaded barrel with a 1 in 10 RH twist rate (vs 1 in 12), an over-sized bolt knob, along with other things. You should check out the FN site before you decide if you want the A5M or the A5M XP

And yes it is worth the difference.

            Go 24", 1:12" twist. 20", 1:10", ewwww.

Are you sure you want an FNH SPR? For the money, I find the action lacking (JMHO).

What is wrong with the action? I ask because I am looking at the A1. Thanks, Sammy

AI mags won't fit into the bottom of it without milling the action.

And the 5 and 10 round magazines made by FNH will only fit the A5. The A1/A2 will take the 4 round magazine only. You can buy the FNH bottom metal that accepts the 5 and 10 round magazines and have it installed but the stock has to be modified somewhat to make that happen.

All that having been said I am still very happy with my A2.
