Savage Axis in 250-3000 Savage?

With the BF sales coming up, I'm thinking of picking up a Savage Axis in 22-250. I was thinking that it would be a simple job to rebarrel it to 250-3000 Savage. I like the 25 caliber and miss my old 257 Roberts. Has anyone done such a conversion? Know where I could get a 250-3000 barrel for an Axis?

I think that I could put the thing together for under 5 Benjamins.

Dunno about the Axis, but I would sure like to add a Mdl-99 250-3000 to my safe... Had a chance years ago; did not realize how interesting a cartridge it is(was) at the time.

Great cartridge but a little hard to find brass for at times. Stock up on it when you find it. I have 2 250-3000 projects in progress right now. Matching rifles for my daughter and myself. It will be her first deer rifle.

As for brass, I'm leaning toward 22-250 necked up to 250-3000. (.223 to .257.) A difference of .034.

Was the 250-3000 a standalone cartridge, or did it share basic dimension with anything else originally? I know 22-250 was necked down from 250-3000. But what about 300 Savage etc?

Call them direct I know it's available they even advertised it in the gun rags, I am sure because I shoot one in a kelt form and I am always looking for stories and reviews of them. It's a sleeper of a cartridge.

Brass is available on a seasonal basis I use Winchester and Remington.

The 22-250, 250 Savage and 300 Savage all share the same case. I don't know which came first though.

The 22-250 was originally a wildcat based on the 250-3000, and was around for a while before it was standardized.

250-3000 came out ~1915, 300 Sav about 1920.

How about the 2506 as another option, Closer to the 257 R-iA then the 250-3k.
