Who's an FFL in LA that can get a custom actions ordered?

Stiller / Defiance / any of those actions?
I'm planning on getting something bigger than a 300 win mag, maybe 408 Cheytac.
    or a custom 338 lapua.

Problem is not finding the action or place to buy it. It's finding an ffl who'd be willing to receive it for a fair fee.

what's fair? most FFLs price structure is fair.

think about the cost of business and the work they have to do to make sure the transfer is legit.

if you have a FFL order it from the mfg, you'll probably wait 4-9 months. otherwise, get it now, pay the extra cost to have it brought in and enjoy shooting a nice custom action.

FYI, I would choose the deviant action, which is what I have. and lots of prs guys are doing the same.

Fair is like 75 to 100 bucks or whatever the cost is. I know they have to stay in business and doing dros work is not making them rich. Problem is most stores don't want to receive it. Like turners they just won't deal with it. It's the boutique guys that know what it is.

I've always found Addax and Aegis Trading to be very fair.

They are a little screwed by the import structure. The Dross can't be more than $25. In my experience they all tack on at least $75, making it a round $100 for the "fee" but then they are required to collect tax (6.5%-10%). So a $1k custom action is at best about $200 to actually get it in your hands.

This is why it's actually sort of worth it to buy a Turner's special 700 and have someone local tune it. Typically you'll have a very nice action for about $800 rather than a nicer custom action for $1200.

Also consider that PTG now sells blueprinted 700 actions, with one of their bolts for $595. You can't get much better than that as long as you are using normal calibers.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?
