    Ruger american torque settings

    Has anyone ever playes with the torque values on any of the ruger american centerfire rifles? They recommend 60-80in lbs but has anyone had better results with lower? For the popularity of these rifles there sure doesnt seem to be much as far as deviation from recommended torque let alone anyone talk about it and any mods.

    While i understand these are budget rifles many still tinker on them.

    With a Ruger American, I don't think you'll see much difference as long as you a regular wrench and just hand tighten to "reasonably tight". If it isn't loose, and it isn't too tight to the point your action/trigger is obstructed, I suspect you won't see much difference.

      I have a torque wrench so using the supplied torque value isnt an issue. The way these are designed i too suspect it would be of no value to try but was just curious if anyone has. This is more important when dropping it into a laminate stock as i soon will be.

        Might be more advantageous on a custom action pillar bedded then a stock chassis.

          Well the reason i asked is because it has a type of pillar bedding/v block bed. Its not the best but i figure metal to metal or solid surface mount should do something for it. Its big downfall that i already see is the flimsy stock while its not as flimsy as others it definately is and the thickness of the stock at the barrel end is pretty thin but seems about on par with more thicker stocks as far as deflection. Im wondering if its because of the way its "bedded" which adds to this solidness.
