Ruger hawkeye

I'm looking at getting my wife her own deer rifle and she like shooting my .243 from when I was younger. She likes the fit of the hawkeye compact but I'm wondering how much accuracy is given up by the shorter barrel? Anyone have any experience with it?

Only thing you lose with the short barrel is Velocity.

When you said "Ruger Hawkeye" I thought you meant the single shot pistol that they made back in the early '60's that shot the 256 Winchester magnum. It's confusing that they would give a different gun the same name.
