    .416 Barrett vs. 1/2" AR500

Here is a pic of the impact point of a 398gr Barrett .416 factory round from my M99 on a 1/2" thick AR500 gong at 125 meters. It dented it to about 1/8" on the front and 1/16" on the back and wrapped the gong and hardened chain around the I-beam support in the blink of an eye. The surrounding .308 impacts just take the paint off. Had to try it once; future shots will be on cardboard or the 330 meter gong.

Those Zel's look awesome, congratulations! It's takes a long view with these big guns; they're expensive, dangerous and components are hard to get. But they are worth the wait.
The .416 has to be the best non-RAW/DD fire-for-effect round in California. I'll post a pic of my M99 in Burnt Bronze Cerakote tomorrow.

Yeah, it's a great antimateriel round. If the target were fully supported, the destruction would be greater. It is kind of expensive, though, to shoot solids at 130m. At 330m, it won't lose that much energy, so don't expect much difference. Beyond 1km, the .416 carries more energy than a 50 BMG. I am not a big fan of the .416 since it's very expensive to run at $2/projectile and 190gr of powder. Other cartridges do better for ELR, but if the MRAPs show up to take you away, the .416 is what you want.

I tried a .416 and it kicked my @$$!!! "Settled" on the .338 LOL

I have the shell case sitting on my desk next to the .50 and the .338. Barely a neck on that case.

You have fun with that beast!

Thanks! Going out of town but will start final assembly Friday, putting it on a 80%, with a SWFA mrad scope. Will post picture when done.

While waiting for parts and upper, got 240 nds in the box.

                      Were the projectiles solid brass?

Pretty impressive that it wrapped it around the stand. That must be a heavy piece of steel. I really need to get my M99 out and shoot it.

Cool! You should do it again, and make a video of it! Slow motion, with a cool soundtrack.
