    Remington 770 .308 broken bolt handle

    Long story short I acquired a Remington 770 .308 short action. The handle on the original bolt was broken off. I have tried google for a replacement. All I can find is fluted etc... upgrades.

    Is there a place to get a stock replacement bolt body with the handle and swap out the remaining bolt parts? Or does anyone have a stock one they'd like to sell or trade?

    I'm freaking clueless to bolt action guns. So any information would be helpful.

    I would weld on an aftermarket handle. The headspacing is different on most guns. If you do not have go-no-go gauges dont chance it.

      * UPDATE* Sorry it's a model 770. I got the model wrong.

      Yeah the bolt was welded on once and got broken off again. I understand the head spacing issues. I prefer to keep the old bolt. I'll probably see if I can get it rewelded again.

      Seems 770 bolts are even more scarce due to them being a cheaper low end bolt action rifle.

        Put the bolt only in a small flat rate box and send it to Dan Armstrong at accu-tig. He is a professional welder by trade who tig welds Remington bolt handles by night with a one week turn around time.

        I break bolt handles off on a regular basis and Dan welds them all back on and they never come off again.

          Then step away from the rifles please. If you can't use them without breaking them then you're doing it wrong or breaking them on purpose. In either event, you're a danger to firearms and should stop.

            ↑↑ Haha ↑↑

            Remington bolt handles break off frequently. Thats what happens when you epoxy/solder two pieces together that see a regular application of multiplied torque. If it wasnt common there wouldnt be a market to support countless options of Remington bolt handle repair. I rock PTG one piece machined bolts myself, mostly because I enjoy being poor lol.

              Very cool. Thanks! I will check him out and see if he can fix it.

                Maybe you could teach me how to shoot?

                  Sigh.. it was a lighthearted jab. Don't get all bum-hurt. I don't necessarily think you need to learn to shoot. Point of fact: I didn't address your ability to fire a weapon at all and lack any evidence of your inability there. If you still want to learn I guess I could be bothered. I do think you need to learn to operate your bolt handles without breaking them. None of the 10 remmy's (including 2x 770's) in the family stable have ever had a bolt handle bust and they're not being lightly used.
