Don't waste the extra $$ on the Range Certified Weatherby's they all shoot great, if you're looking for mostly Hunting the Accumark is a bit on the heavy side if you get a Weatherby Magnum cartridge if you get it in a standard then it's good to go, also the Vanguard back Country is a nice gun for around $1000+

Awesome guys, thank you again for all the warm welcomes and the overdose of excellent information. I was leaning towards the 308 a little more than the 243 and this has made it the clear choice for my first range/target/plinking rifle. For the rifle itself I am now just beginning the research phase and am considering the Cooper, Weatherby, Sako, Accuracy International and the desert tactical srs. Are there any others that deserve to be put in the mix. I understand that rifles (not barrels) last a life time that is why I am not too worried about initial cost, Buy once, cry once, then enjoy for the rest of my life. Thank you again for the wisdom and kindness.

Toby thank you for the knowledge on the weatherbys, I am in the 10 day waiting period on my nosler patriot in 270 win which is going to be my first rifle for hunting and was starting to look at the weatherby accumark in 308win which is a standard non magnum, as a higher round count/range/target/plinking gun. thanks again and sorry for the confusion.

Thanks toby those rifles look great and are definitely worth considering.
