The age old FFL question (LA)

    I'm in the Whittier area.

The pawn shop that was recommended to me (Alamo) was $90+DROS + tax on the gun.

Turners doesnt do incoming FFL anymore, just called them.

Redfield wont return my calls/pm's last 5 days.

Looking for around $45+DROS within 1/2 hour drive or so.

    Suggestions?

Try Ace's Jewelry and Loan, also in West Covina.

Aces Jewelry & Loan is a pawn shop located in West Covina, CA.

They used to charge $25 + DROS + Sales Tax, but have heard that they increased the fee to $35 + DROS + Sales Tax. Give them a call and confirm.

You could also try Lambert Pawn in Whittier.

Gave them a call, $50+DROS + tax on the gun and shipping.

Is tax on the cost of the gun and shipping a standard thing? Don't think I've ever payed this in my life, maybe it's a Pawn Shop thing?

I think LA just has a lot less "kitchen table" FFL's

Yes, I've been paying tax on the gun for 2 years now?

Yes, sales tax needs to be collected by the receiving FFL unless the shipping FFL collects the tax prior to shipping the firearm - you would need a receipt to prove this. I have not heard about collecting tax on the shipping costs, though.

Aces jewelry says the same, % applied to total invoice.

Went with lambert pawn because their local and seem nice.

Def wont be buying too many more actions or from out of state again, $50 + $25 + 9% on retail and shipping is pretty damn lame.

You're still paying 25 +9% if bought in store so it just depends if it's 50 cheaper online. With some guns, it almost always is.

Its $35 for PPT its none of the FFLs business what it sold for. Thats why some FFLS don't let the cash change hands in the store.

I live in the same area. Red field did the same thing to me too. But once I sent him an email, he got back to me within the hour. That's the only way I know how to get ahold of him. Another one with very similar rates to him is Stoney Creek Arms. She calls back even. I believe her price for a pistol is $50 including DROS

He usually gets back to me with an email. My most recent attempt to contact him, I had to send another email to him. Keep in mind, he ONLY works from 930-130 M-F. You need to pick up or sign during those hours.

Stoney Creek Arms is super easy to get ahold of and the rates are also very cheap
