    Tikka T3 Lite

I just placed a Tikka T3 Lite .308 cal in Stainless, on layaway with a Gun Broker seller. I look forward to getting this paid off quickly and setting up the rifle. I have a .270 win and a Weatherby .240 magnum and thought this would fit in nicely.

My ultimate goal is to get involved with long range precision shooting competitions. It looks like the .308 is the caliber of choice for that, plus it gives me the option to shoot larger game if needed.

Anyway, pretty excited about it and wanted to share with other who enjoy this as I do.

I'm no expert, but long range shooting competitions take a grip of practice and a ton of rounds. Not sure the lite is ideal for that. Might consider one rifle for hunting and one for the competitions. I could be totally off base and I'm not trying to be negative. Good luck on both by the way.

I just picked up my Tikka T3 Lite in 30-06 and cant wait to take it out.

I have a Hunter in 30.06 (same rifle but with a wood stock). Ditch the OEM rings and get a set of Talleys.

Check out my thread below... I've only shot about 10 rounds to zero my scope so far but it seemed like it was worth far more than the song I paid for it.

The T3 LITE will not be the right gun for target shooting.
You want the T3 Varmint model with the heavy barrel for target shooting.

The Lite model is a great hunting gun.

Tikka t3 lite, limbsaver recoil pad, .308 hornady American Whitetail 150gr interlock, 2 shot, 200yd 1/4" group, deadly accurate, varmint would be great for target.

                One 2-shot group means nothing.
Post up 5 of those groups from the same day.

Show us what the barrel shoots like after it has 30 rounds through it in an hour.
That's how target rifles should be tested.

2 rounds is fine if all you are doing is hunting.
I hope you fix your zero before you actually do go hunt with that gun...

Well, that's true, but my gun is just a lightweight budget build which is good for my specific hunting needs, I had about 20rnds through the barrel prior to that 200yd test, Im sure the gun could outshoot me however. Gun is zeroed now

GregDio, You're going to have a great hunting rifle in the T3 Lite. Light enough to pack all day, anywhere, and plenty accurate. I think mine weighed right at 8lbs loaded with a NF 2.5-10x32. Shooting two rounds per minute, the lite barrel will drop the first two rounds pretty close, definitely sub MOA, but the third shot tends to start to spread, so not great for comps. When you're ready to compete, you can put a heavier profile barrel on the T3 action and have a contender.

                    Safe shooting!

Fitting your needs is what matters most.
People all have different needs though.
A lot of people don't even know WHAT their needs are.

A lot of people are looking for a "do it all" rifle with MOST of the use being target/bench shooting.
Heavy guns suck to carry in the field.
Light guns suck to shoot 60 rounds a day through.
Use the best tool for the specific job and results will almost always be better...
