    sourcing a 300 winmag

Well now that my SSE are squared away for the year, winxp_man sealed the deal on my next purchase with his recent post of his rifle... problem is I can't seem to find any rifles. The plan is to get a remington 700 in .300 win mag, with a heavy barrel preferably 5r, stock doesn't really matter since I will most likely be going to a chassis system soon after I get the rifle. They have some randon 5r models that I have found but everywhere is out of stock so may have to just go with a sendero or 700p but can't seem to find them in stock anywhere but sketchy little shops on gun broker claiming they are new when the pics show obvious wear? Also interested in savage rifles but everything I find is light weight profile barrel... Any one know where I can find them my google foo has failed me?

Might have some luck here for a used one. http://www.caprc.com/forums/index.php Since you want a heavy barrel you'll probably be wanting to shoot with these guys anyway.

For the price you are going to pay for a R700 5R I would buy a donor bolt and action and have a .300WM built with a 26" Lilja 7 Contour barrel.

For the money it takes to buy a Sendero off of Gunbroker you can buy a barreled action with Timney trigger from Northwest Precision and you get a trued action and custom barrel that will shoot sub 1/2 MOA.

If your wanting a 700 Remington and you already know your going to use a chassis you might as well build what you want from the start

Sporter barrelled magnum 700's are a dime a dozen.
I would find a cheap donor gun and rebarrel it.
You will end up with a nicer shooting overall package when you are done than if you had bought a remington heavy barrelled action.
I think I know where there is a nice 30 caliber krieger #9 blank sitting for $300 if you are interested...

For how hard it is to find a Sendero SF II in stock I would do what all the other members posted in here. Also what I have found in stock they want way to much. I bought mine about two years ago foe 1k plus paper work here in CA. On another forum there is a member there asking about the Sendero SF II and I recommended the same to him.
