    1895GS 45/70 problem

Took my 1895GS out today to give her some range time. Might be taking it on a hike (thread in hunting/hiking forum) and wanted to test some ammo. Shot 10rnd of Remmington 300gr hollow points and 10rnds of Remmington 405gr soft points. Shot flawless and straight, no issues.
I'd found a box of Hornady Leverlution 325gr at Turners for $36. The round loaded and fired great, cycled the lever, spent case ejected but the next round jammed leaving the tube onto the ramp. This happened every time I tried it. I'll take some video and post it.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

What is hanging up? The flexible tip? or is there a lip that it is hanging up on? Also check overall length compared to the other cartridges.

      Don't use that ammo anymore.

OAL problems. Same for me. Do not fiddle with the loaded ammo ...

Well crap! So I'm stuck with 17rnds of ammo? Hornady knows this? Very disappointed if that's the case.

You can load it one at a time. They chamber and fire fine, right? Then just don't buy that ammo anymore.

Yup. Still pretty bummed that it has to be this way. Lesson learned.

Hrm, Havent had a problem with it personally in my GBL. Is it hanging on the tip or somewhere else? Sometimes a sharp point can hang it up somewhere else.

I'll take a closer look on the bench in my garage.

You have the old style follower in your rifle. The old style follower don't have a dimple in them for the flex tip ammo. You can do one of three things. First replace old follower with updated follower. Midway or Brownells should have it. Second use a old school flat nose or round nose cartridge first then load flex tip ammo. Or just don't use that ammo at all. I personally would just shoot that ammo at the range and give the brass away. Try Marlinowwners.com lots of info for Marlins.

                        1895GS 45/70 problem

Cut the rubber tip off, my marlin cycles and shoots that stuff no problem without having to cut the tip off

I think you will find the Leverlution brass is a lot shorter than normal 45/70 brass . They did that because the mouth of the case hung out past the ogive of the pointed bullets . They work great to form to my 40/50 BN though since I have to cut them off any way.
